This is a business club conducted by our law practice and The Reluctant Entrepreneur. It is open to all owners and managers of businesses and to those who conduct a not-for-profit enterprise, no matter their industry or the size or type of business.
Meetings are held quarterly, with keynote business speakers, discussion groups, business book reviews, handouts and legal spotlights.
The School of Hard Knocks is a hands on, very practical club. The aim is for local businesses to improve and be successful. We want business people to learn from one another and to pick up on ideas from others who are outside their own industry and business experience and who might have quite different perspectives. As an owner or manager of a business or not-for-profit enterprise, you are warmly invited to attend any of our business club meetings.
Our Next Meeting
Our next meeting for the School of Hard Knocks will be held on Tuesday 19 February 2019 at Waverley RSL. Our event commences from 12:00pm for a 12:30pm start over lunch and finishing at 2:00pm.
Our guest speaker will be Danielle Storey speaking on “There has never been a better time to be YOU!”
Everyone wants you to succeed in the “future of…” space. Entire ecosystems are being built and nurtured to ensure that you have every opportunity to build, test and pilot something that will make your world, or the world at large, an easier, more functional place to live.
Whether you are a sole trader, an entrepreneur-in-development (or in-hiding), a company leader or team member there are countless opportunities to innovate, develop and thrive.
So what stops us from innovating? What elements seem to delay our progress?
In this entertaining and motivating presentation designed especially for our Business Club, Danielle Storey shares that innovation is so much more than the trendy word of 2018. She outlines methods and pathways that you can get deeply curious about and take to develop into viable business models and products.
What you will take away from the session:
- Why there has never been a better time to be involved in an innovation ecosystem
- Who wants you to succeed
- About the paralysis of choice and how to keep moving
- Why innovation is unsafe and what you can do about it
- How you can move from ideas to action
- A bit about people and change
- What you can learn to dramatically increase your chances of innovation success.
Business Club members can access handouts and material from previous meetings here.
