Sharrock Pitman Legal strives to offer value for service, with legal costs being fair and reasonable.

For all legal work, we can either agree with you on a fixed amount according to the scope of the legal work we are to undertake or we can provide an estimate or range of legal costs based on time.

If we agree on a fixed amount, then you have certainty from the outset about the amount of your legal costs. If we are required to undertake work which is outside the scope of the agreed legal work, then we either agree to a further fixed amount or, failing agreement, such work is billed on a time basis.

Alternatively to a fixed amount for legal costs, we may agree to undertake the work according to the amount of time it takes us to complete the work. The billing rates vary for our lawyers between $20.00 to $40.00 per unit of six minutes, according to the experience of each lawyer and the type of work. GST is added to these rates. In this event, your costs would not be fixed and the final amount of costs would not be agreed in advance (although an upfront estimate or range of costs can be given).

Costs and the method and timing of payment will be discussed and agreed with you in writing. Detailed accounts are provided, listing each item of work. Payment is then made by cheque, cash, MasterCard or Visa Card.
